Mount Dora and Sorrento area Golf Courses

There are a lot of golf courses in Tavares, Mount Dora and Sorrento. Overall, they are all good golf courses, each with its own set of challenges.

Mount Dora Golf Courses

There are 2 golf courses in Mount Dora. Both are very different and worth a play.

Country Club of Mount Dora

The Country Club of Mt. Dora is a nice neighborhood course with lots of water and trees. There are some holes where you have to negotiate past the tree, but don’t go too far or you will end up in the water.

Mount Dora Golf Club

Mt. Dora golf club is a fairly old course. I’ll play it once in a while. There are a few holes with some crazy elevation changes. I forget the hole number, but it’s downhill and the fairway slopes hard left. Hit as far right side as you can, hit a fade if you can because it’s going to roll down the bottom of the hill to the left.

Sorrento Golf Courses

Sorrento really has 3 great golf courses. Though I think Black Bear technically has a Eustis address. If you are in the area, play all 3, as they are all different.

Eagle Dunes Golf Club

I play Eagle Dunes the most. It’s 10 minutes from my house. It has elevation changes, long and short par 3’s. And when the wind is blowing, good luck on the par 5 18, which is usually uphill, and into the wind, with a big elevated green.

RedTail Golf Club

Redtail golf course is a semi-private neighborhood course. It has water, sand, and some elevation changes. Overall, a beautiful course and a local favorite.

Black Bear Golf Club

I’ve been playing Black Bear golf course since it opened. It’s one of my favorite courses. The thing about Black Bear is the elevated greens. This course is deceivingly difficult. In Otherwords, it’s harder than it looks. For example, on 17, hit a bigger club than you think for your approach and don’t go right off the tee. On number 2, make your approach shot from the right side of the fairway, not the left.

Tavares Florida Golf Courses

Deer Island Country Club

This course is hidden along Lake Dora between Mt. Dora and Tavares. Deer Island Country Club golf course has a lot of water, swamp, and some elevated greens. This is a challenging course if you are intimidated by water.
